Dear Participants,

Although the history of sustainability concerns can be traced back to the 18th and 19th centuries, the birth of the concept of “sustainable development” is quite new. The term "sustainable development" was first used in the report titled World Conservation Strategy prepared by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) in 1980. The general acceptance and wide use of the concept was achieved by the report of the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development (1987) entitled “Our Common Future", also known as the “Brundtland report”. At the head of this commission is the Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, who gave his name to the report. The report describes sustainable development as "a form of development that responds to today's needs without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations." This definition indirectly focuses on two central ideas: needs and the limited capacity of the environment to respond to these needs.

When these needs and the existence of the limited capacity of the environment were well defined, there was an awareness, especially in governments, business circles and scientists. This awareness helped the concept reach a wide audience and gain support.

Currently, studies on sustainable development progress in three main areas: economic, social and environmental.

* Economic dimension: it is about the production of things that meet all basic human needs, improve their well-being and standard of living. This suggests improving productive capabilities and existing technologies by supporting scientific research, encouraging businesses to invest, and adopting modern production and management methods to increase productivity.

* Social dimension: providing fair distribution of resources and growth through a fair tax system and ensuring that all members of the society are provided with health, education, security, etc. without discrimination. It aims to establish a social protection system that ensures the right to receive services and insure against the dangers of life.

* Environmental dimension: It covers the harmful effects of production activities on the environment and encouraging the rational consumption of non-renewable resources and improving the use of renewable energy sources and recycling wastes.

*** The congress is a leading international meeting aiming to develop scientific studies that will make it easier for states and governments to develop policies to achieve sustainable development in every field and to develop strategies accordingly. Therefore, it is a pioneering vision of getting all scientists who study on sustainable development to work together, all under one roof and to share information in customized sessions on the following issues.

  • The presentations of the scientists and the programs of the congress can be accessed from the previous events section.
  • Presentations in Turkish, Arabic or English languages are possible at the 1st International Sustainable Development Congress. Presentations to be made other than Turkish can be followed through simultaneous translation.
  • The 1st International Sustainable Development Congress will be held at the Porto Bello SPA Hotel in Antalya on 06-08 November 2020.
  • Taking into account the importance of the Covid-19 outbreak, the necessary preparations have been identified. The congress will be held by paying attention to the necessary hygiene and social distance rules.
  • The scientists who wish can make their presentations through the ZOOM program.
  • Invited speakers from 7 different countries were called to the congress.
  • The abstracts and full texts of the papers will be published in the electronic book with ISBN after the referee process. Abstract texts will be published on 30 October 2020.
  • Scientists can only participate in the 1st International Sustainable Development Congress with a verbal paper or a special topic workshop.
  • Scientists who will apply to the congress should prepare summary texts of 250-400 words (including sections such as subject, purpose, method, result). These abstracts should be submitted with English translations in addition to the presentation language.
  • Presentations at the congress should have content related to Sustainable Development.
  • Presentations at the congress can be made in Arabic, English or Turkish.
  • All works sent to be presented at the congress will be accepted or rejected after the referee process. Acceptance or rejection decisions belong to Scientific and Advisory Board.
  • The accepted papers will be announced on 20 October 2020. No notification will be made before this date
  • Scientists, who want to have their papers published in the full text book after the congress, should pay attention to the spelling rules and send their texts to the email address specified in the communication section of the congress until 1 December 2020. All sent texts will be published in the full text book after checking with the plagiarism program and the referee process.

It is our greatest wish that high-quality and unique publications are presented and shared, also new collaborations and worldwide relationships are established by scientists. Therefore, we desire to see you in this feast of information, to listen to your research and your information.

Regards…
